The two main characters of my stories are the Type 2 and a Type 8 in question. The whole Core Fears model is gold for getting into the head of the main character(s), and I've found thinking about characters' enneagram types a billion times more productive than going off of nothing. I'm writing a collection of short stories for fun over the summer and, having learned a lot about the Enneagram in the past year or so, I wanted to put that knowledge to good use building & developing stories. Hey folks! Looking for some tips, from 2s and 8s, about how to write characters of those enneagram types. If you have questions, create a post, or feel free to message the moderators. Information on Enneagram type relations and compatibility can be found at Enneagram Institute's website Questions The directional theory of the enneagram can be found here: 9 types Some of the best type descriptions online are from Enneagram Underground, 9types, and Enneagram Dimensions (PDF google doc) It might be necessary to retake the test a few times before you can narrow down your type. This Duniho Enneagram Test may be useful in determining your type. How to find your typeĪs with the MBTI, research will be more reliable than tests, though tests may give one an idea of where to begin looking. A basic introduction to the system can be found at The Enneagram Institute. The Enneagram is a model of human personality based on nine types. The self-preservation instinct to the Navel Chakra, the sexual instinct to the Sacral Chakra and the social instinct to the Root Chakra. This is a community for discussion of the Enneagram and related topics. Which is your dominant chakra?ĮDIT: The three instincts are directly related to the three lower chakras. 2, 3, 4 are heart types and 5, 6, 7 are head types. I would suggest overlaying the chakra system with Enneagram to figure out your type. That should have been it for me right there.but I wasn't ready to accept the truth yet. When I read this, I thought consciously,"wow, I would love to be at that point, but I really can't see any way to not know why somebody would lie.I've seen it too much". They wouldn't lie to anybody and can't fathom why one would like to them. Something interesting that I read about 9 is that they are very trusting. I knew I wasn't a 5 (although I desperately wanted to be) and I saw unnerving behaviors that are attributed to 9 and believed for a long time that I was a 9. When I first tested, I tied equally between 5 and 9. If I figure anything out, I’ll be sure to run it by this section of the forum. I ordered a few books on the enneagram types, so I’ll have a better understanding of them come February. Or according to my suspicions, not something that I'm capable of. Seems like picking one aspect of my being and going with it has never been something that I have been comfortable with. Then, when I got to college I double majored in physics and religion. I should note that as a child, I wanted to be either a priest or an astronaut. Is this common? Is it acceptable to identify with two types? I’m curious as to what you think of this and to what insight you can lend. I can see how the MBTI can address this as straddling of two types, but I just don’t understand its implications with the enneagram types. But, if I try to subscribe to just one of them, I feel part of my personality, something that is essential, is omitted. As I read up on the type profiles, I find that I fit both of them quite well. I’ve taken a few tests and I’m either a 9 or a 5. I was wondering what you all think about the possibility of being two enneagram types.
